This penthouse on the Upper East Side served Interior Designer Cecilia Dupire as therapy: “filling the space with light and life, I discovered the healing powers of the architecture”.


When Interior Designer Cecilia Dupireing, looking for a way to return to her life in New York, she was quickly conquered by the views of this penthouse of 200 square meters in the Upper East Side.  Although officially resided with her husband and children between Manhattan and the Hamptons (after passing through a medieval château in southern France), Dupire had installed for almost a year in his native Sweden to take care of his brother suffering from leukemia, until he died. Upon his return to New York, she says, she saw the potential of art therapy. He began working as a volunteer in a children’s cancer hospital: “Forgetting a bit of myself and letting children express themselves through creativity found my joy together,” he recalls. The transformation of the apartment is an allegory of the therapeutic use of interior Cecilia has done.
